Financial Information

VSC is a 50l(C)(3) organization.

VSC's annual operating budget is just under $300,000. This figure includes salaries for 3 full time staff members, all of whom have been with VSC for more than 20 years, and 3 part time staff.

VSC purchased its townhouse/office in the early 1970's and, as a result, our occupancy costs are limited to building upkeep, utilities and insurance.

Our overhead costs are 7.3%.

Our support comes from local foundations including the Weissberg Foundation, the Herb Block Foundation, the Phase Foundation, the Commonweal Foundation, the Community Foundation for the National Capital Region, the Capitol Hill Community Foundation, the William S.Abell Foundation, the Clark-Winchcole Foundation, the Spring Creek Foundation, WSA/St. Albans and the Jovid Foundation. We have received funding as well through the District’s Justice Grants Administration, the United Planning Organization, local law firms and from hundreds of individuals in the Washington area who support and believe in the work we do.

VSC’s most recent audit is for fiscal year 2007 (July l, 2006 through June 30, 2007). It is available upon request. Our expenses for FY ‘08 (July 1, 2007 to June 30, 2008) are anticipated at $350,000.
