VSC is a 50l(C)(3) organization.

VSC's annual operating budget for FY 09 is just under $350,000. This figure includes all operational costs and salaries for 3 full time staff members, all of whom have been with VSC for more than 25 years - plus 3 part time staff.

VSC purchased its townhouse/office in the early 1970's and, as a result, our occupancy costs are limited to building upkeep, utilities and insurance.

Our overhead costs are 6.8%

Our support comes from foundations including the Weissberg Foundation, the Herb Block Foundation, the Cafritz Foundation, the Phase Foundation, the Jovid Foundation, Capitol Hill Community Foundation, the Clark-Winchcole Foundation, WSA/St Albans, the ARCANA Foundations, the Meyer Foundation and the Commonweal Foundation. We receive funding as well through the United Planning Organization, the District’s Justice Grants Administration, local law firms - and from hundreds of individuals in the Washington area who support and believe in the work we do.

VSC’s most recent audit is for fiscal year 2008 (July l, 2007 through June 30, 2008). It is available upon request. Our expenses for FY ‘10 (July 1, 2009 to June 30, 2010) are anticipated at $440,000.
